We have said it 100 times before and we will likely say it 100 times again. 2020 has been a really tough year all round for everyone in some way shape or form.
Though the year of 2020 from a footy perspective, while disrupted at times, was a way for many people to still enjoy at least some form of their pre-COVID. So we have caught up with our coaches to see how their season has gone and what their expectations and visions are for the season ahead!
Women’s Division 3:
The 2020 season saw our Women’s Division 3 squad field two teams! A huge achievement considering our first women’s team was fielded only 3 years ago, the growth in the club in this time has seen the demand for two teams in Division 3 this year.
Our two Division 3 coaches for 2020 we Michael Cook (3A) and Giorgia Watts (3B).
The consensus from both coaches was that the enjoyment that came from coaching was formed from being put out of their comfort zones and the overwhelming sense of friendship and teamwork that comes with being a part of the NSFC family!
The 2020 season didn’t stop new girls from joining the team, learning new skills and improving upon them throughout this turbulent season. With a highlight for 3A’s being that they qualified for finals.
Michael Cook comments that the coming 2021 preseason will be approached, ‘With a great sense of enjoyment as we teach new girls the fun and excitement of AFL and as we continue the journey of those who have been with us for longer than a single COVID-19 season’.
Both coaches look forward to the 2021 preseason/playing season bringing more new faces, seeing the return of some seasoned smiles and to see girls progress through the division as their knowledge and skills improve.
