If you’re a footballer who aspires to test themselves at higher levels of the game, North Shore is the place for you. There’s plenty of past and present Bombers who have revelled in the opportunities that exist.

2019 has seen the coming of the NAB League, a competition that includes the top under 18s sides from Victoria along with Academy teams.

Last Saturday, the Swans Academy took on the Giants Academy in Canberra. North Shore was prominently represented; with Harrison Parker, Jackson Barling, Josh Rayner, Luke Parks, Pierce Roseby and Nick Brewer all taking part in the game and making key contributions as the Swans powered their way to a 59-point win.

These players will continue to play NAB League during 2019; and we’ll also likely see them making appearances for the Swans Reserves in the NEAFL and training with the Swans.

It’s a heavy representative program for all six of them; but when their availabilities allow it, they’ll be lining up for North Shore this season.

Six North Shore Bombers got to sing the song for the Swans Academy

Angus Baker, who came up through the ranks at North Shore, has made a name for himself at the Canberra Demons. Angus played in our Under 19s premiership in 2015, and was with North Shore until an ACL injury ended his campaign in 2017 before it started.

Last year he made the move to Canberra, joining the Demons and playing in the NEAFL team. He was awarded this week’s NEAFL Rising Star nomination after a convincing performance against the Suns Reserves.

Below is a highlights package we’ve seen of his sensational game last week.

Jonathan March, another product of North Shore who played in our 2016 Under 19s premiership side, has moved over to Adelaide this year to test himself out at SANFL level. The big ruckman has wasted no time in making an impact, being selected in the Seniors and making his SANFL debut for Central Districts last Saturday.

Centrals went down by a kick, but Jono showed plenty of ability and promise. For someone who had never played the game competitively until 2016, in just his fourth season as a footy player, a remarkable achievement.

If you’re an aspiring footballer with ambitions of playing higher levels of the game, North Shore can be an important step along the way. From time to time in 2019, we’ll be checking in on present and past North Shore players who are having a go at higher levels of the game.
