We’ve heard stories about North Shore players who have gone on to make their mark in the sporting world. And for another Bomber, a journey of adventure awaits.

A North Shore junior and coming through the ranks, Mitch Wright has enjoyed plenty of success at the Bombers. He first came to us as an under-age permit player; and soon impressed with his ability as he carved out a regular place in the North Shore lineup.

Mitch raced to prominence with a break-out season in 2014, when he took out the Under 19s Best & Fairest. As a 17 year-old, he played in our Under 19s Grand Final the week after he played for the Swans in the NEAFL Grand Final.

He played in our Under 19s premierships in 2015 and 2016. Moving between our Under 19s and Premier Division teams, Mitch also won a Rising Star nomination in 2015.

His talent and work rate had been noticed in elite circles, and Mitch was part of the Swans Academy program and played several NEAFL games with the Swans reserves.

His sporting talent and academic ability has seen Mitch’s sporting journey go in a new direction; and he’ll be swapping the Sherrin for the pads and helmet.

Through the USA ProKick program, Mitch has received a scholarship to Stony Brook University in New York; combining his college studies with being an American Football punter. He’ll be starting in July.

It’s quite an adventure, in a new country playing a new game; but Mitch is keen for the adventure and the challenge that awaits.

Good luck Mitch. We’ll look forward to hearing of your success on the gridiron fields of the USA.
