The catch-up weekend happened on Saturday. No Premier Division matches were scheduled, with North Shore being well represented in both the Mens and Womens wins against AFL Tasmania. Under 19.5s Division One also had no match scheduled. With multiple injuries and unavailability on a weekend when we weren’t originally scheduled to play, we were unable to field a team in Womens Division Three.
However, ten North Shore teams took the field, with seven of them taking the chocolates.

MENS
Division One travelled to Mike Kenny Oval to take on Pennant Hills, and it was no contest. The Bombers took control from the start, and by half time were out to a 26-point lead. But the screws were tightened even harder after half time, and the Demons were unable to score a goal in the second half; as the Bombers powered their way to a 94-point win. Kieran Fulton helped himself to five goals; with Felix Rogers and Charlie Silvester featuring prominently around the ground as our Reserves maintained top spot on the ladder.
Division Two were always behind against Randwick City at Gore Hill, but always close enough that the game was still up for grabs. But despite creating plenty of chances in the last quarter, the Bombers were unable to snatch the win and went down by eight points. Tom Lewis, James Weiling and Toby Bartrop battled tirelessly; but although the Bombers got close it wasn’t enough to steal the game.
Division Three broke their losing streak, returning to the winning list in style with a 24-point win over Sydney Uni at the No 1 Oval. Despite missing some chances early, the Bombers got on top on the scoreboard and slowly but surely extended their lead in every quarter. Connor Fahy, Sam Hynes and James Hunt were willing workers for the Bombers, sensing the opportunity to regain the team’s winning form and keeping working hard till the job was done.
Division Four were on fire against Randwick City at Gore Hill, and it was one-way traffic all game. The Bombers were unstoppable, creating goal-scoring chances all over the ground; while the Saints were unable to score a goal. Jackson Capp landed seven goals and Cam Davis four; while Mitch Hunt and Gordon Smith were ball magnets all game as the Bombers cruised to a 106-point win.
Division Five South-West hosted Macquarie Uni at Gore Hill for the second week in a row, and last week’s result was replicated when the Bombers again took out a hard-fought win. Some inaccurate finishing made the scoreboard closer than it needed to be, but the Bombers always looked to have enough in hand to get the win. Wade Dower, Keiran Dean and Ben Key were exceptional for the win as the finals beckon for our Sixths team.
A tough assignment for Division Five City-South, as for the second straight week they were up against Southern Power. This time it was at Gore Hill and the margin was closer, although the Bombers were unable to score. Best players were unavailable at the time of writing; the Bombers tried hard to keep it tight, but it was a tough ask against a strong opponent.
Under 19.5s Division Two retain top spot on the ladder, doing it in style with a 90-point win over Pennant Hills at Mike Kenny Oval. The Demons were unable to score a goal as the Bombers ran rampant with a seven goal burst in the first quarter putting the game way out of the Demons’ reach. Harry Jones landed four goals; while Lachlan Cardwell, Alex Belousoff and Hugo Brasher were everywhere around the ground. A solid Bomber effort keeps the Bombers on top.

WOMENS
Division One had a tough away trip, travelling south-west to Fairfax Reserve to take on Camden. In a low-scoring game, the Bombers made the critical move with goals either side of the three-quarter time break to record a narrow 10-point win. Phoebe Gray, Grace Thomas and Sophie de Montemas were superb for the Bombers as they held on through the final quarter for a valuable win which puts the Bombers in good stead for a potential finals appearance.
It was a tough evening for Division Two, playing in the late game at Gore Hill against St George. The Dragons put the Bombers under pressure, and the Bombers were unable to score. They had willing workers, Emma Borkman, Ellie Shefts and Emma Green battling hard all night against the odds. But it was a disappointing evening and the rewards for effort would not come.
Under 20s were given a run for their money by Parramatta at Gore Hill, with the Goannas dropping some Premier Division players back to Under 20s. But in the end, our young Bombers led all day and did enough to take the competition points with a comfortable 36-point result. Ava Thomas, Anna Langford and Lauren Shinfield were prominent performers in a strong performance that puts the Bombers in a strong position to make this year’s finals.
