Another super Saturday for our Bombers saw all 14 of our teams take the field; with five home games back to back at Gore Hill, a home game on new territory at Blackman Park and eight teams on the road.
It was a successful day, with nine teams taking the chocolates plus a draw; including a clean sweep at the Goretress.
This takes us to the half-way point of the home and away season; and on current form we are a good chance to be well represented in this year’s finals.

Premier Division continued their impressive run with their seventh win on the trot. Five goals to one in the first term established a handy break, which the Bulldogs never looked like bridging. Max Yeoland contributed four goals; while last year’s Podbury Medallist Fraser Thurlow, along with Mitch Rogers were impressive contributors as we downed the Bulldogs by 47 points to maintain second spot on the ladder.
Division One, playing in the late game at Gore Hill, maintained their unbeaten status with a 29-point win over UNSW-ES. There was only a point in it at quarter time, but as the game went on the Bombers gradually drew ahead, winning every quarter to deny the Bulldogs any sniff of a comeback opportunity. Nick Brewer, Michael Goode and Angus Rankin were pivotal in ensuring the Bombers once again got the job done.
It was a tough road trip for Division Two, heading out to Greygums to play Penrith; and a slow start cost us dearly. The Bombers were unable to score in the first quarter, and although they fought back to get the margin back to 11 points at the last change, the pressure of playing catch-up footy took its toll. Lachie White, Matt Gill and Pat Mainsbridge were gallant for the Bombers, but it wasn’t enough to get the points.
Division Three remain undefeated after a 33-point win over St George at Olds Park. The Bombers got off to a strong start and won every quarter; and there was no way for the Dragons to force their way back into the contest. Henry Franklin and Ben Greaves were twin spearheads, each contributing five goals; while Connor Fahy and Casey McCarthy were prolific ball-winners.
Division Four had little trouble in recording a 65-point win over Newtown at Henson Park. Five unanswered goals in the first quarter set up a buffer that the Breakaways never looked a chance of recovering. Angus Quail, in his first game for the club this season and 100th overall, landed six goals; while Kieran Dean and Lachlan Dowling were all over the play for the Bombers.
It was a thriller for Division Five North-West. At Greygums against Penrith, the Bombers created chance after chance; but weren’t able to put the Rams away. In the end, despite having 15 scoring shots, only two of them were able to draw twin flags from the goal umpires; and when the final siren sounded, the teams couldn’t be separated. Spencer McIntosh, Sam Steinberg and Wade Dower played key roles on a day when the honours were shared.
An explosive start got Division Five City-South the chocolates at Mahoney Park against Sydney Uni. Seven goals to one in the first half set up an unassailable lead; and although the Bombers didn’t score a goal in the second half, the lead was enough to ensure a 24-point win. Alex Freilinger, Henry Kirk and Alex Heintze were in the thick of the action in another sold Bomber victory.
Under 19.5s Division One had a day to remember as they were untroubled in knocking off the Bulldogs by 70 points at Gore Hill. The Bulldogs led by a point at quarter time, but six goals to one in the second term set up a lead that the Bulldogs were unable to recover from. Sam Jackson landed six goals and Nate Howson four; while Lewis Whiley, Blake Rundell and Nathan D’Silva picked up myriad possessions around the ground.
Under 19.5s Division Two remain top of the ladder, doing it in style with a 51-point win over East Coast at Blackman Park. The Eagles led by two points at quarter time, but the Bombers got on top in the second quarter to turn the deficit into an 18-point half time lead; and went on with the job in the second half. James Pocknee, Alex Belousoff and Harry Layet were superb for the Bombers as they cruised to another comfortable win.

WOMENS
Premier Division are in pole position to land a finals double-chance after a convincing 54-point win over UNSW-ES at Gore Hill. Six unanswered goals in the first quarter laid the platform, and the Bombers were the dominant force all day. Ella Daniel, Kiera Yorbury and Lucy Yates were best on a day when the Bombers showed they are genuine contenders in 2025 and held the Bulldogs to a single goal.
It was a pleasing morning’s work for Division One. Playing in the early game at Gore Hill, the Bombers landed three goals in the first quarter while holding the Saints scoreless; setting up a handy buffer that they were able to maintain for the rest of the game. Kara Selvarajah, Elle Carroll and Brooke French were superb as the Bombers stood tall, holding Randwick to a single goal.
Division Two were handed a tough assignment, travelling to Greygums to take on Penrith’s only team. It was a low-scoring contest, with the defence standing tall; but scoring opportunities were few and far between, and we were unable to manage a goal. Nikki Spalvins, Sam Robinson and Izzy Smith fought bravely for the Bombers, but it wasn’t our day.
It was a heart-breaker for Division Three. Playing in the early game at Trumper Park against UTS, the Bombers once again defended resolutely and took the game up to the Bats. The game was in the balance until the final moments, and the Bombers had high hopes of breaking through for the second win of the season; but when the final siren sounded, we were an agonising one point short.
It wasn’t our day in Under 20s at Trumper Park as the Bombers went down to UTS by 39 points. Jaime Morelli, Ava Thomas and Alice Austin kept putting the hard work in; but it was one of those days when things weren’t going to plan. Back home next week to regroup, in what is an extremely tight battle for ladder positions.
