The shortest weekend of the year, but the weather was sunny and not too cold. And plenty of solace in the solstice; as 12 of our 14 teams took the field. Mens Division Four had the bye, while Mens Division Five North-West won without firing a shot as they received a forfeit win.
Including the forfeit, nine North Shore teams took the chocolates on the weekend. Mens Seniors were given a scare by South-West Sydney, while Womens Seniors had a clean sheet against Parramatta.

MENS
On a weekend of miracle comebacks, the Giants’ win over the Suns was not the biggest come-from-behind result of the weekend. That came in Premier Division at Rosedale. The Bombers were in trouble at the long break, 33 points down against the competition’s newest team. But a six goals to none third quarter turned the game in our favour; and although it was close, we were able to retain the lead throughout the last quarter to take a 12-point win. Nick Pavlou, Ethan Grace and Jackson Nelson played key roles in the comeback win.
Division One suffered their first loss of the season when they went down by 12 points to Parramatta at Gipps Road. The Bombers led by 13 points at the long break, but were unable to hang on as the Goannas kept coming in the second half. Elmore Alexander, Joel Hennessy and Lachlan Gedge were active around the ball all day, but it wasn’t enough to keep the winning streak going.
It was a tough day for Division Two at Gore Hill. Up against Manly’s reserves, the Bombers were unable to get going at any stage during the day; conceding 14 unanswered goals in the first half. Joe Maguire, Harry Barnum and Seb Krimmer never stopped putting the effort in; but it was one of those days when little was going right.
Division Three’s winning streak is over after going down to Camden in a thriller at Fairfax Reserve. The Bombers trailed by 13 points at the last change and came home strongly in the last quarter; but fell four points short. Inaccurate finishing would cost the Bombers dearly, going down despite having six more scoring shots. Sam Kelly, Conor Fahy and Luke Macauley had plenty of the ball, but it was a heart-breaker for the Bombers.
Division Five City-South hosted Camden in the first game of the day at Gore Hill. A flying start saw the Bombers score the first six goals, and there was no way for the Cats to get back into the contest. Alex Heintze, Nathan Brackenrig and Charles Simpson were pivotal to the Bombers’ success as they moved into the top four in the conference.
Under 19.5s had a percentage-booster against South-West Sydney at Rosedale when the Blues were held to a single goal, the Bombers running out 148-point winners. Cooper Clarke and Nate Howson each landed seven goals and Sam Jackson four; while Lewis Whiley and Austin Orsini were in everything around the ground. It was an impressive performance by our young Bombers as they again made a statement about their intentions for 2025.
It was an early morning for Under 19.5s Division Two as they made the long drive out to Fairfax for a 8:30am start against Camden. The first half was a close contest, but the Bombers made the decisive break in the third quarter to run out 41-point winners. Michael Riddell, Jacob Harper and Alex Belousoff were in the thick of the action in an impressive display that maintained top spot on the ladder.

WOMENS
In another dominant performance by Premier Division, they travelled to Gipps Road and held Parramatta goal-less to run out convincing 98-point winners. Heidi de Saxe, Amelia Rainbow and Tilly Eder were superb for the Bombers as they added to their already impressive percentage, again showing the killer instinct to complete their fourth clean sheet for 2025.
Division One also enjoyed a clean sheet in their 95-point win over South-West Sydney at Rosedale. Elle Carroll slammed home four goals; and along with Kayla Villareal and Sophie de Montemas was among the Bombers’ best. It was a dominant performance around the ground, locking the Blues out of the contest and moving the ball with regularity on their way to a percentage-boosting win.
It was a tight battle of the defences in Division Two. Playing Msnly st Gore Hill, the Bombers fell behind early but never gave up and pressed strongly in the last quarter. Holly Adlam, Uma Van Egmond-Jones and Viv Leong were magnificent as the Bombers battled hard against the odds. But in the end, they would fall an agonising 10 points short.
Division Three came so close to getting their second win of the season; but in the end, for the second week in a row, they would finish agonisingly short. The Bombers came home strongly after a slow start and got to within a kick, but in a low-scoring contest were unable to find the winning goal. At the time of writing, goal scorers and best players were not available; but once again, the defence held firm in a tight contest.
Under 20s, playing in the late game at Gore Hill, got on top early against Sydney Uni and led all day; although in a low-scoring contest the Students were always a threat. But as the evening went on, the Bombers were looking more assured and made their way to a 28-point win. Heidi Charles, Emma Byrne and Willow Orsini were in the thick of the action in a welcome return to the winning list.
