Another big round of results for North Shore. Of our 14 teams, 11 took the field this weekend. Womens Premier Division had the bye, while Womens Under 20s was cancelled when Sydney Uni No 1 Oval was closed. Mens Under 19.5s Division Two took the points without firing a shot when Balmain forfeited.

It was a day of some massive wins at home, with Mens Prems, Division One and Under 19.5s Division One having a day to remember against the Magpies.

MENS

Saturday afternoon at Gore Hill was a triumph for Premier Division. Six unanswered goals set the tone for the day to come, as the Bombers romped to a 114-point win. There were numerous avenues to goal, with Tom Drum landing five majors while Ned Campbell and Nick Pavlou scored four. Nick Pavlou, Jake Veale and Ned Campbell were best on ground; but it was a solid team effort by our Seniors.

Division One was untroubled by the Magpies, and made their way to the double century and a comprehensive 186-point win. Tom Gillis was unstoppable on the forward line with a bag of 10 goals; with James Cubis and Sam Milligan each landing four. Around the ground, Michael Goode, Elmore Alexander and Simon Homsany were ball magnets in an impressive display by our Reserves.

Division Two were playing the late game at Gore Hill. It wasn’t an easy assignment against UTS’s Reserves. There was only nine points in it at the long break, but the game got away in the third quarter and the Bombers went down by 54 points. Toby Howard, Simon Read and Nick Lo Surdo battled tirelessly, but it wasn’t our day.

Division Three had little difficulty in getting past Balmain on their way to a 65-point win at Gore Hill. There wasn’t much in it in the first quarter, but from there it was all Bombers as they powered away to a comfortable win. Christian Dennis landed four goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Michael Read and Will Baily also featured prominently for the Bombers.

Division Four ended Hawkesbury’s unbeaten start to the season with a 19-point win on the road at Bensons Lane. Scores were tied up at the long break, but four unanswered goals in the premiership quarter titled the game the Bombers’ way.  Liam Blanch, Tom Dorman and Mackinley Mitchell were influential for the Bombers as they moved to the top of the ladder.

Division Five North-West were in complete control in their clash against Hawkesbury at Bensons Lane. Four goals in the first quarter was comfortable enough, but six goals in each of the remaining quarters set up a 111-point win. Ross Fitzpatrick had the luck of the Irish to finish with seven goals; while Keiran Dean added four in a best-on-ground performance and Gus Stone-Heesh was everywhere around the ball.

Division Five City-South had a rare Sunday game when they travelled to Rosedale Oval to take on South-West Sydney. It was close all day, but in a low-scoring contest goals were hard to come by and the Bombers fell 10 points short. Liam Fardy, Louis Erbry and James Dethridge battled tirelessly to keep the Bombers in the contest, but the big sticks proved elusive on the day.

It was no contest for Under 19.5s Division One in the twilight game at the Goretress. A run of eight goals in the first quarter put the game already out of the Magpies’ reach, and the Bombers kept going; being the second Bombers team of the day to bring up the double-century. Sam Jackson helped himself to five goals; while Charlie Brownlaw and Charlie Stephens each bagged four on a day when no less than 15 Bombers kicked goals. The Bombers had winners all over the ground, with Charlie Stephens, Lewis Whiley and Jack Blazey the pick of them.

WOMENS

Womens Division One were in the early game at Gore Hill, which was a see-sawing battle against Manly. The lead fluctuated for three quarters, with the Bombers leading by three points at the last change. But unfortunately we were unable to score in the last quarter, going down by 16 points. Hannah Collins, Marlee Barnet-Hepples and Phoebe Gray kept the effort up, but sadly on the day the Bombers fell just short.

It was tricky conditions for Division Two on the northern oval at Macquarie Uni, and a tough slog on a heavy track for the Bombers. In a low-scoring game, the Bombers were unable to score a goal until the last quarter and went down by 32 points; despite plenty of desperation from Georgie de Montemas, Imogen Johnson and Amelie Lemiueux.

Division Three made the trip to Bensons Lane to take on Hawkesbury. It was another solid defensive effort to hold the home side to six goals, but our goals were hard to come by and the Bombers put up a brave fight but went down by 19 points.
