Vale Zach Bray

As many people associated with our club will know, one of the young people who passed away in the Singleton bus crash was Zach Bray.

Zach was a former North Shore player and his family has a deep connection with our club. Zach’s father, Adam, played for North Shore and was a member of 1985 Premier Division premiership team. Zach’s stepfather, Andrew Varadsi, is also a North Shore premiership player and as many will know, is the current club president at Manly.

Zach’s uncles Damien, Haydon and Martin also all played for North Shore, with Damien being a member of the 1991 premiership team. Zach’s late grandfather, Jim Bray, was Club Secretary and a Committee Member for many years and he played an active fundraising role as Convenor of the “Golden Bears” during the 70’s & 80’s. Jim was also a Life Member.

Zach is well remembered by many people at our club and it goes without saying that it is a tragedy for his family that this fine young man has been lost so soon.

In memory of Zach and in support of his mother Jackie, Adam, Andrew Damien, Haydon, Martin and the rest of his family, we will be wearing black armbands this weekend.
