I feel great! Very excited to get stuck in and continue on the great work that has gone into building the women’s program by Locky, Guzz, Michael and everyone else involved thus far. It’s a great opportunity for me to give back to a wonderful footy club and hopefully get a few W’s along the way!

I moved to Sydney in early 2018 and was looking for a footy club when I bumped into Jodda at the gym (haven’t seen him there since). I was very excited as Gore Hill is 800m from the apartment we had just moved into… conveniently that was the year the hill was being redone so I had the pleasure of travelling to Blacktown every second week! Obviously there were enough great people at the club that I stuck it out and now you are stuck with me! I played the majority of my footy under Jodda and Ships who were generous enough to give me a run despite being a bit long in the tooth! My playing journey probably should have stopped after an opposition player called me “Angry Dad ”..

Funnily enough I used to hear something along those lines most weeks I played!
Obviously Taylor has helped the game immensely and being a blues fan she’s right up there but Maddy Prespakis is an obvious choice. I love the way she goes about it, plenty of grunt and no nonsense!

I love the enthusiasm! Everyone is so keen to learn and improve and that makes showing up really easy for me! Watching the squads grow and seeing the new talent come through makes it really exciting for me also.

Outworking the opposition, relentlessly hunting the footy and being the loudest team in the comp are a few areas I’m keen to work at but overall it will be just focussing on sticking to the structures and continuing to do the things that have made us so strong in the past.

After a couple of particularly challenging seasons all round, I’m hoping the biggest challenge will be picking the side for the GF!

I wouldn’t say I have any individual success stories per se, but I like to think I’ve played a small part in the development of many of the players that have been part of the women’s program since I became involved. As for players perched to go to the next level there are too many to mention!

For me it’s all about work rate. Coaches really notice players who put in week after week and I know I will be looking to reward those that do. That and some mongrel! I love the fast free flowing footy that NSB are known for but I don’t want any opposition teams thinking they are in for a day of bruise free footy when they line up against us!

Unfortunately I never got the elusive North Shore flag despite playing in a few GF’s so there is no single game/memory that really jumps out. I’ve just really enjoyed being constantly blown away at the young (and older) talent at the club. I’ve shared some amazing times with some amazing people both on and off the field and will look to continue to build memories at the mighty Bombers!
