They’ve still got it! Our Masters revel in the feeling of victory

Match Report – Round 1– 4th May 2019

Vs Inner West Magpies

Results – North Shore 12.16 (88) def Inner West 6.10 (46)

Gentleman a great start to the master’s season which saw the North Shore Bombers take on The Inner West Magpies, in what could only be described as a herculean effort assembling a team in the past 7 days was extraordinary from all involved.

The first quarter was a feeling out process with a lot of players getting climatized in playing at night under lights, and the modified masters rules, albeit a little clunky but nonetheless the ball moved around by hand and foot which saw some shots on goal early in the piece. Some early scoreboard pressure by the Bombers saw them go in with a 2 goal lead by quarter time. The casualty ward claimed its first victim at the bombers midfield with Darren Piro unfortunately tearing a hamstring saw him sidelined, but the likes of Robbie Wright , Ryan Meldrum and Phil Zammit stepped it up with some dominance through the centre getting first use and getting the ball inside 50 which saw Evan Davis off the chain slamming a bag of 6 goals for the match in front of a vocal clubhouse of supporters.

The game ebbed and flowed with the Magpies playing a spirited game finding space and staying close to the Bombers but the experience of Gurry, Meldrum , Brian Jackson the Livy boys and Scotty Costain thwarted any real comeback from the visitors and saw the Bombers romp home with a 42 point win.

A big thanks to the players that helped out the opposition putting on their guernsey.
