Want to play Women’s AFL in 2017?

North Shore is excited to announce the establishment of their women’s AFL program.

Peter Gurry, Director of Women’s Football at North Shore, believes that this is a really important initiative, “The club is excited to extend its focus on developing AFL in the region to providing opportunities for women to play. Junior girls AFL has really taken off in the area over the last 5 years and this program will provide a pathway for those girls to continue to play once they leave school.”

With the AFL National Women’s competition commencing in 2017 Gurry expects a lot of interest, “Similar to our men’s program we will provide opportunities for all levels of experience, ability and interest. While some players may be interested in playing the game professionally, others may be attracted to the fitness and social aspects of the game.”

The club will be running a “Come and try” day for women interested in playing at Gore Hill before the end of the year. “It will be a great chance for anyone interested to experience what training will be like and to learn some skills in a fun and informal environment.”
